Demolition Man

My mom has been talking FOREVER about wanting to remodel her kitchen. We are finally doing it! Last Saturday Dad and Brandon started phase one of PROJECT REMODEL, with some help from Kirk. These are the before pictures: (I have to note that my mom is going to be mortified at the thought of people seeing the "mess" of crowded counter tops and surrounding area, but for heaven's sake, we're remodeling, so please ignore the mess!)






The wall under the bar that we're going to remove. And by "we're" I mean they're!



The under the counter cabinetry, once the cabinet doors were already removed.

OK, so the goal was to remove the bar and the counter-top under the window as well as the cabinetry under the window counter-top and half of the cabinetry over the bar. We also wanted to remove the second oven, and create a new garbage container cabinet with doors from the cabinetry under the window counter-top, in place of the second oven.

OK, so we have Bre helping clean up the mess. So we discovered the kitchen was originally mustard yellow with tupperware orange counters! Gotta love the '70's!

Finally, the new garbage storage area where the second oven used to be, under the sugar and flour canisters.

Still to come...new counter tops, fresh paint, painted cupboards, new flooring, a new free-standing cabinet system with enough storage to clear off the new, beautiful counters! We'll keep you posted on our work!
